This jigsaw is about more that just the wine. It is also a celebration of the landscape that produces it. We hope you enjoy completing it.
There couldn’t be a better time to learn about English Sparkling Wine. Climate change is currently causing huge differences to English weather systems. As it gets warmer the growing conditions in the vineyards of the South East of England are becoming increasingly similar to those in the Champagne region of France.
English Sparkling Wine
Although wine making in the UK dates back to Roman times the English wine industry as we know is still in its infancy. However, it is growing at a rapid pace. Vineyard planting is up 70% in the last five years alone and the South Downs is blessed with similar soils and climate to Champagne.
English Sparkling Wine makers use the three ‘champagne’ grapes; Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier. What’s more it is made using the traditional methods used in the Champagne region. This involves first fermentation in a tank followed by a slow second fermentation inside the sealed bottle that captures the bubbles produced by fermentation. Wentworth makes these Wines of England Wooden Jigsaw Puzzle at their factory in the heart of the British countryside. They use wood from forests that are sustainably managed and the box is made from recycled materials.
