Description
This Chablis Wine Print was inspired by the one the foil capsules collected by my husband Henry. He was a wonderful advisor to us in the early days of Top Note Design. Guiding Alice and I as we learnt about the wines we were basing our artwork on. Henry gave us this tasting note for Droin’s Chablis.
During the Great Ware soldiers on long forced marches would slake their thirst by sucking pebbles. And this is what the great wine writer Harry Yoxall was put in mind of when tasting Chablis. Chablis is Chardonnay but true Chablis, such as that of Monsieur Droin, is unique. It is a wine that speaks of place and that could come from nowhere else on earth.
How Our Prints are Made
We start the design process with the actual wine capsule. Then we begin to reimagine it using colour. In this Chablis print we wanted to capture the minerality that Henry talks of. We also wanted to add sharp green apple, citrus and perhaps some notes of butter and cream as well as trying to evoke the landscape.
Each one of our prints is produced on fine art paper using giclée printing.
