This Louis Latour limited edition print takes inspiration from one of our favourite Burgundy producers. We incorporate the blue of the sky and the light golden colour of white burgundy.
I’ve had many memorable visits to Beaune, the home of Louis Latour. It stands in the heart of the Cote de Beaune among some of the most celebrated vineyards in the world. Chassagne-Montrachet, Puligny Montrachet, Corton, Meursault and Volnay to name just a few.
We began our business when we discovered the collection of wine foils my husband, Henry, had been keeping for years. Not only are the designs beautiful but they also conjure up happy memories of wonderful bottles enjoyed with family and friends. Henry was a wonderful wine guide to Top Note during our early days. This is what he had to say about Louis Latour.
Burgundy is complicated; it is that simple. So, to better understand a region of 25 villages, 116 appellations and over 4,500 growers, where do you start? You start with a wine merchant (negociants), such as Louis Latour, who buy the tiny outputs of myriad growers and iron out their idiosyncrasies. Via the quality guarantee of their own label they introduce the world to the wines that have moved princes and pauper alike to raptures that claret can only dream of.
This Louis Latour design is one of our first and it will always be one of our favourites. There are now only of a few of these limited edition prints left.
