The Paul Jaboulet Aîné Wine Print is one of my favourites from our original series of Rhone artwork. Paul Jaboulet Aîné is one of the most legendary names of the Northern Rhone. With vineyards across the famous hill of Hermitage and in Crozes-Hermitage the wine have a reputation for high quality. Their flagship wine, Hermitage La Chapelle, is one of the greatest wines of the Rhone maybe even of France.
Alice and I couldn’t resist basing one of our first projects on this beautiful capsule. We use the grey of rocky granite soil of the Northern Rhone. The deep ‘French’ blue we have use in capsule reminds me of the many happy times Henry and I had visiting this beautiful area of France. We tasted wines as we travelled through the famous villages of the region. The great majority of wine here is made from the Syrah grape. The most celebrated is deep flavoured and rich and designed to be aged. We attempt to capture some of this richness and classic quality in our wine inspired artwork.
Our Range of Wine Prints and Wine Inspired Gifts
We love this wine print therefore we made it a part of our Rhone tablemats and coasters sets. Each set contains four different wines from the region. As well as Rhone we have also made a Burgundy set. When we had finished that we then based one of our glass cloth screen prints on this design. Read more about our wine inspired art here.
